DAY/NIGHT SYSTEMS FOR HOMES
Economical central day/night systems for homes
An economical central air conditioning concept is the day/night system which operates on the principle that only half the rooms in a home are usually in use at once. Where a series of small to medium air conditioners was previously required to condition the air in the key rooms, a single 24000 Btu unit can now be used, switched into the living areas by day, and the sleeping areas by night.
There are a number of significant benefits to this design. Depending on usage patterns, there is a potential operating cost savings where one air conditioner is doing the combined work of multiple units and there is a longer life expectancy (up to twice that of single units). The latest day/night systems allow for individual temperature control in each room.
Mister Cool designs and installs the system complete with the ducting which connects the air conditioner to up to approximately six separate rooms. The ducting, unseen in the ceiling, channels the air to lounge, dining area and kitchen or study by day, and up to three bedrooms at night. A control valve is used to direct the air either to living or sleeping areas as desired. As an option, heating can be added to the system at a moderate extra cost.
